ASTON wins the Inter-bank Challenge 2009

Summetime conditions, with a fine Southwest breeze, were bestowed on the 13 crews that had come to take part in the 17th Inter-bank Challenge - ERI Trophy, celebrating 20 years of ERI, a partner of this competition.
?The regatta reflects the banking sector's dynamism and diversity. With crews made up of bankers determined to defend their organisation, this Challenge enables industry professionals to get together in a friendly, fun way. These are values that ERI has defended for 20 years, sharing them at sea with the MYC!, stated ERI's President, Monika Assaraf.
It was only during the last three races out of the eight contested that the clear leaders emerged, thus demonstrating how consistent the level, which has improved continuously over the years, now is.
It is of note that, this year, some crews brought in a professional (as permitted under the rules), such as Gianluca Perris (25th in the Race world ranking) for BSI or Flavio Grassi (former Olympic team member), for Aston. This strategy bore fruit as Aston came in ahead of the title-holder, St Andrews. Congratulations to Crédit Mutuel which won third place thanks to training and to taking part in MYC regattas throughout the year.
For other crews, however, such as Barclays Wealth or ING Bank, it was not only about winning but about taking part in full, with a smile, and a crew 100% made up of employees, and to share a special moment relaxing in the friendly company of colleagues and fellow professionals, in a spirit of sportsmanship and openness among industry members.
